Toe Ring Jewelry?Q.My girlfriend likes pretty things, and has nice feet on which she has painted her toenails a pretty blood red. So I thought that she might enjoy getting a nice toe ring as a birthday present to accent her feet. Does anyone out there have much experience with or preferences about toe rings? I'm thinking that a simple gold thin band would be pretty, though the silver ones I see look nice too. I'd prefer to get one that was non-adjustable (no gap), simply because they look better to me. However, I have the problem of not being able to measure her toes (how could I do this without giving it all away?!). One place I've found offers sizes 1 through 5. I thinking that if I get something in the middle, a 2 or a 3, she would be able to find a toe on which it would fit. (She has thin feet and long toes if that helps at all to know). Anyway, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions about how I might proceed with this! A.Way to go for having the courage to bring your girlfriend jewelry that fits your taste. You'd be surprised to see how many men are getting cold feet there. They are afraid that their woman won't like it and..... I see that every time I have a sale in a high-tech company. Most men want so much to buy a jewelry for their loved, they go back and forth around the stand but they are "paralyzed". However, in your case, getting a non adjustable toe ring to your girlfriend by surprise is indeed risky. People have all kinds of toes and if the ring doesn't fit well it could be a nuisance. I believe that the intention is what matters here. Why won't you tell her that you'd like to buy her a toe ring? See whether she likes the idea and then either take her with you to look for something you both like or measure her toe. I've made several toe rings and they have all been adjustable - not because the toes couldn't be measured but because toes are usually thicker at the end than at the base where the ring is worn. If the ring is big enough to slide on, its too big to be comfortable. An 18ct one I made in the '60s is still good and its never been taken off.
