Toe Rings for Men. ?
Q.I have been fascinated by toerings since i first stared seeing them on singers, artists and hippies in the 60's.Then virtually exclusive to women. I first started wearing toerings only onstage with the "glam rock" bands I was in during the '70's. I had started studying modern dance , which is done in Bare Feet .I eventually gathered the courage to start performing BareFoot and found that, in Bare Feet, I could move so much better , and felt so much more vulnerable and sensual, all of which came thru in the performance. Toerings seeemed to go quite well with the whole "image". However it wasnt until about 3 years ago that i began wearing them in other circumstances. After awhile I became accustomed to them to the point where i really didnt even notice them, but still, tended only to wear them in"safe" situations,discreetly removing and pocketing them in transit.
A.Unfortunately, I have yet to see anyone in this mentally constipated town wearing toe rings, male or female. Some facial piercings and small automotive parts gracing tongues here and there, retro grundge, maybe a bit of Gothic dress (and mind you, these kids take a trouncing for their choices) , but no toe rings.... Coworkers almost dropped when I arrived with mine, a small 2mm gold band, and it wasn't long before many had commented on it. Perhaps in time, some will join me in wearing toe rings...men and women alike. I look forward to that time. Urghhh, bad idea. Gifts are gifts for the person being celebrated, not a way to push your beliefs or practices on others, especially if they haven't shown any interest in them - or even outright disapproval. As for "wearing it at least once", don't count on it. I've gotten dozens of ill-conceived or un-conceived gifts that I've never worn. If someone at work shows any interest, by all means I would say buy him/her a toe ring on the next birthday. Otherwise it is just an exercise in how polite the co-worker is. Otherwise this is the equivilent of someone buying Jeffrey a Beach Boys album on the theory that he will have to listen to it at least once and suddenly love love love them. :-)
