Diamond Engagement Ring ?
Q.My Sister is selling her Platinum Brilliant Round Diamond Engagement ring. The Ring is less than a year old and It was appraised for $11,200 Canadian * $7000 US*and another appraisal listed it at $12,500 - $13,000 Canadian . I have the Official lab report on the diamond. This ring is not only a solid investment choice guys, but guaranteed to impress any lady.
A.Diamonds are a terrible investment. It is easy to get a ring appraised for a high value, but have someone actually try to buy it at anywhere near that price however and you will have problems. A ring is either VVS2 or VVS1, it is not in between, a good diamond appraiser will tell you that. J-K color is not very good as an investment (even if an investment were a good idea to begin with), especially at that price and especially as an investment piece. Do a search on the web, you can get an ideal cut, J color, round brilliant diamond at 1 full ct and VVS2 quality at around $4K USD. You can get an H color, round brilliant, vvs2, 1.01 ct for under $6K US. Or just walk into a reputable diamond merchant and ask them. The setting itself is almost meaningless. A high quality, fancy platinum band setting will cost you under $1K, less at wholesale. The ring was given to the woman, in anticipation of marriage. Obviously, the marriage is off. The honourable thing to do, then, is to return the ring to the giver. (I'm assuming, of course, that all else is fair and square; if the man was an abuser, then she doesn't owe him anything.)
