Princess Engagement Ring?Q.I remember, at the time of the accident that the jeweler couldn't honestly even say that it was an engagement ring as it was never stated as such. The jeweler is generally the first to know and he did not know. He could only say that it was of that category and that is all. A.It was a 'Dis-Moi Oui!' ('Tell Me Yes!') ring! OK it was adapted from that range, it wasn't off the shelf - this has been used by an accidentalist here before to support the view that it wasn't an engagement ring - but then what exactly does one expect from somebody as wealthy as Dodi Fayed? Of course the ring would be made to order after looking at samples and after a discussion. I reckon Alberto Repossi, when the chips are down (reference here to where the Grimaldis launder drug money in Monte Carlo), plays for the same team as Monckton and Flecha de Lima. Albert Repossi has gone on record (and the articles have been posted in this ng before) saying that he was never given the impression that the ring was meant as an engagement ring. I will note that someone of Diana's stature (not Dodi's because he had no "stature" until he was linked to Diana) would certainly not informa a mere jeweller of her marriage intentions. Repossi has also gone on record saying that the ring was selected straight out of a catalog that Diana & Dodi had with them when they walked into his boutique. Repossi also said he offered to redesign the ring specifically for them as this was the exact ring shown in magazine advertisements. He went on to say that Diana liked to ring exactly as it was and that it only needed to be resized. It has been well noted that Dodi gave expensive gifts to his paramours, specifically jewelry. This particular ring was from a series called 'Dis-Moi Oui!' ('Tell Me Yes!'), however the entire jewellry line and this ring were based on cocktail rings from the 30's, therefore not your average engagement ring at all, but a very beautiful and expensive diamond ring, which in its original design was meant simply to be worn by women of means to cocktail and dinner parties in the 30's. So, as far as I am concerned, it could have been called "I am getting Married Tomorrow" and still wouldn't prove a thing as far as an impending engagement goes.
