A.At 19 years old??? How old would the fortunate young woman be? 16 or 17? It's much more likely a gift for his grandmother, great-grandmother or aunt. In any case, when Prince William does marry, isn't his bride's wedding ring likely going to be a royal heirloom peice, rather than a brand new, store bought ring that anyone could buy? The sapphire was her engagement ring, not her wedding ring. IIRC, aren't all British royal wedding rings made from the same nugget of Welsh gold? It was indeed her engagement ring, but FWIR it cost £28,000 and Diana picked it out from a tray that was brought round by Garrards -- it was the biggest one in the assortment, apparently. I haven't been able to find any cites for that, although I do remember reading it.
