Q.Why not look or get an engagement ring in the first place that works with your lifestyle?
A.Because when we chose my engagement ring it never occurred to me that it might be a problem. Before I got engaged I *never* wore rings. As a photographer I am constantly having my hands in chemicals, dark bags, rolling film, etc. I've never had to deal with having a ring with a raised stone and it didn't occur to me that it might get in the way. The final straw came when I was shooting a wedding and I stuck my hand in an outside pocket of my camera bag to get some film. As I pulled my hand back (I was in a hurry as I always am when working a wedding) my ring caught on the lining of my bag. It badly bruised my finger and cut the skin enough to bleed because I pulled so hard. The finger was swollen and tender for several days. It was also made worse by the fact that I am left handed and my finger was swollen enough to make my daily use awkward. It was very painful and made me realize that I can't wear my engagement ring while I'm working. True...which means you why would anyone take my messages as being a threat. It would be the same as if we were chatting on the net. I was just talking...conversing... I was just stating my feelings...not making you feel any differently. I'm a very shy person, and my messages being thought as threatening and hollering at people gets me very emotional...almost to crying. I'm sorry for the post. I was hoping for a friendly place to discuss my engagement/wedding plans. How do you like these apples: my engagement ring IS my wedding ring! In my family women usually get just the engagement ring, wear it on their right hand, then switch to the left hand during the wedding. I am unsure if this is a general cultural practice in my mom's country, or if it's just her family... Since I am not accustomed to wearing rings, just the one ring has been quite an adjustment. I can't imagine wearing two rings on one finger for the rest of my life! And even though it's a flat platinum band with the diamonds flush around the top, with nothing sticking out, I STILL take it off when I'm going to the gym, or working in the garden, or laying bricks... leaving me with NO ring!
