Q.My friend's suggestion: Dinner for two with your loved one in Paris or Venice in your favourite five star restaurant. This one sent me scurrying to the closet where I resurrected my birthday dinner outfit from a few weeks back: - Short, V-neck, spaghetti strap dress that is velvet "burnout" in black and silvery gray with roses in shades of burgundy. - Deep burgundy Carol Little stretch velvet waist-length jacket; this has a wide macrame border with little beads dangling from the fringe; it is a perfect color match for the darkest roses on the dress. - Tolerably comfortable strappy black heels. - Black crocheted drawstring purse. (I keep referring to this in my outfits. In my vast collection of purses, this one gets a surprising amount of play time. I found it in the little girls department at TJ Maxx years ago for about $2!) - Champagne and white diamond huggie earrings and my dear departed aunt's antique diamond pendant in a delicate platinum "birdcage" setting. Yellow and white gold diamond bracelet. Anyone giving me an excuse to dress up???

Said suit would be JNY black crepe with a long below mid calf skirt Top would be gold (not metallic) silk satin camisole with black medallion print and spaghetti straps Hair doodad would be the one I wore at my wedding; row of 3 gold medallions with pearl centers Necklace would also be one worn at my wedding - double strand of pearls with diamond and ruby clasp, clasp in front Wedding and engagement rings Small pearl studs DH gave me Handbag - Jane Shilton semi-circle I wore in Ready Set #1 but with the shoulder strap out, not tucked in Black sheer hose and black silk Talbots pumps with open instep, low heel, and ankle strap so we could walk after dinner w/o me hurting too terribly, again a repeat item from Ready, Set #1 Makeup - a full face w/ base, blush, probably Stila Diamond Lil shadow lined with NARS London eye pencil, and Hermes rouge, blotted for lip color Fragrance - probably something like Marc Jacobs, perhaps DSH jitterbug if I felt sultrier
