Favourite Royal Engagement Ring ?
Q.I got mine, an eternity ring, after Annemieke was born. In fact that's how I announced to spouse I was expecting her: I looked speculatively at my hands, and when he asked what was the matter, I said "I'm just wondering which finger I'll wear it on"... He needed no further explanation. :o))
A.I've known of women who've said "No" to "Are you engaged?" when she had the guy, had the house, had the date set, had the gown, but not the ring. You don't _need_ a ring to be betrothed! One asks, the other accepts, and you're engaged. If the guy wants her to wear the ring, he'd better make sure she can. There's nothing more unromantic than being presented with a ring that doesn't fit. And it helps if it fits her lifestyle. My high school chemistry teacher lost an antique setting when something she was working with ate the gold of her grandmother's ring. If your server missed it, I'll be glad to e-mail you (Have to send you my address anyway, don't I? For all those plastic baubles....) BUT, I *did* find a brooch that was a decently reminiscent of the pave' brilliant rose brooch the Russians recently made and sent with the collection. Of course, the original was very delicate, with a rosebud (& I think thorns!) - the one I found was just a bloom, no leaves or stems, and heavier, but it was gorgeous. (Lost out on the bidding, tho', and had to settle for another pin that, while even prettier, is not as similar. Guess I'll live (-: )
