Jewelry Q & A

Pave Diamond Ring?

Q.How many rings do you wear and how many do you consider is too many? I have seen those with seemingly every finger taken, and it almost looks too much. If the rings are not bulky or thick it appears to work a little better, but is there a general rule or guideline? And what is your opinion of rings worn not at the base of the finger, but in the middle?

A.I have a lot of rings too, but I usually only wear three: my wedding band/engagement ring on the left ring finger, and another ring on the right ring finger (silver Tiffany's "Twist" ring, the diamond anniversary band my father gave my mother, my college class ring, college alumni signet ring, a silver/garnet/marcasite antique ring, etc.). I have some rings that I wear on my right middle or index fingers, but most just fit the ring finger. I can't really wear more rings than that - it's darn uncomfortable for me! However, I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing a bunch of rings on different fingers, if it's comfortable. On some women it looks really terrific and bohemian. I used to have a friend who always wore a gold band on her thumb, it looked SO cool. I can't wear rings on my thumb at all. I wear my engagement ring and eternity ring on my left ring finger, and a ring (varies) on my right ring finger. Sometimes I'll also wear a pinky ring on my right hand. All my rings are 'comfort' rings that I can wear all the time without being uncomfortably aware that they're on my hands. I'd never wear a ring halfway down my finger, it would fall off and I'm not sure I like the look.
