Loose Princess Diamond
Q.my experiences online and in "real" life are not outside the expected norm in either venue. i have played well over a thousand hours at PP and a great many times that amount of time, in real life. i guess my experiences are just unusual?
A.Ibought some emerald jewelry from the Pampered Pirate in St. Thomas. After we got home, it was appraised for more than we bought it for. Then, the emerald on my stone became loose - none of the jewelers around here would go near an emerald, they said emeralds are too difficult to handle without damage. I called the store in St. Thomas and they had me send it to their NY Jewelry repair store. Maybe because we are too embarrased to admit what dummies we were? LOL Actually, I did make a purchase at Diamonds International several years ago (Cozumel). It was not something we planned in advance and we were not as knowledgable as we could (should) have been. To make a long story short, when I had my local jeweler look at my bracelet, he informed me that alot of the stones were chipped and that I had paid almost twice as much as I should have. No one to blame but myself. I look at it this way--I made the purchase because I really liked the bracelet and it is a nice momento from our cruise. I continue to make purchases of jewelry when we cruise (although I do stay away from Diamonds International). If I like the piece and I am comfortable with the price, we buy it. However, when I get that big honkin' emerald-cut diamond that I have always wanted, you can be sure I will make the purchase from a local jeweler that I know and trust.
