Discount price for watches?

Q.I understand it varies from dealer to dealer and from manufacturer to manufacturer but what is/are the good discount percentages for fine wrist watches (ie. Patek, Breguet, etc.)? Please be more specific if a generic answer is not possible. ie. 30% for Patek, %40 for Rolex, etc.

A.The store where I used to work was an authorized dealer of many brands. some examples of their discounted prices include: 25% off of Breitling and Cartier, and I think 30% off of many others such as Tag Huer. The discount really depends on the wholesale cost of the watch, and the reputation of the store. A reputable store in a nice neighborhood, frequently has high overhead and can't discount as much. Other stores might discount more then the amount I stated.. but do you "know" them and trust them? For big purchases I think sometimes that who you buy from can be as important as the brand name of the product. Think about it the same way you think of buying computer equiptment. Is the dealer reputable? Will the warrenty be valid? Do they repair what they sell.. or do you have to send it back to the manufacturer? What services does the store provide (such as adjusting the metal bracelet to fit your wrist)??
