classical collector's item watch?
Q.I just wanted to share with you my joy and pride to have finally retrieved my favourite classical collector's item watch: approx. 1960 Omega Constellation as displayed at: http://clockmaker.com.au/w/omega564.html Actually the one I have has lain idel for the past 23 years in a bank safe since the death of my father. It is the 18ct gold version with adapted Milanaise mesh bracelet. My father received it from the Omega management, in 1963, fully dedicaced for its 25th years of employement at Omega. Those were the days of "enlightened paternalistic capitalism"! When he died in 1982, he had been in Omega's employement for over 40 years. If you look at the profile picture of a similar watch at http://www.bogoff.com/wrist/5401.html you shall notice the bulging Emo system plexiglas, which made the fortune of its inventor, Mr. Morf. The at the outside curved dial is also a particularity of those days. Both features give a slim look to the watch, and all its classical elegance. By the way, I just had to wind it up lightly, and it started working again without an itch and has been keeping good time for the past week now.
