Heart Shaped Diamond Earring.
Q.I've been trying to get my husband to buy me onea those heart-shaped waffle makers for years now. I love getting jewelry, but I've got more than I actually wear. It occurred to me, as I saw one of those ads last night, that if you give diamonds for ordinary occasions, what is left for special occasions? I just got my girlfriend a no-occasion gift. If it had been, say, a diamond necklace, what would that leave for Christmas?
A.I am buying The Hub a diamond earring for Chanukah/Christmas. I have gotten him a ruby & a sapphire so far & want to complete the red, white & blue theme of his left earlobe. We're very patriotic. As for myself, if my boyfriend gave me an expensive piece of jewelry (diamond or no diamond), I might be a little annoyed that he had made a purchase that size without consulting me. The exception would be if it were a piece I had seen and admired while he was observing. As for inexpensive or moderately priced diamond jewelry.....it's not really my style, but if he saw something interesting in design that fit my personal style and bought it for me, I might be impressed. However, this might backfire if I didn't like it. I'm suprised that no one has mentioned the reason that, according to song, diamonds are a girl's best friend. They are easily converted to cash without losing much value and retain their value over time. So if you're unsure of your relationship....diamonds ARE a girls best friend.
