Jewelry Q & A

14K Victorian Revival Lapis Diamond Brooch.

Q.the only solution is to buy the necklace at the authentic sources. I wonder how many members of Memphis Mafia sold their necklace. (I know the case of Jerry Schilling and maybe Lamar? (not really sure). If i was a member of the Memphis Mafia, i'm sure that I would not sell this necklace, but you can have many different reasons ... The TCB is now become a symbol. I am curious to know their opinion about the symbolism of this necklace. Is it still important for them, to wear the necklace today? or this is just a great gift they got from a Good Friend which they are happy to have received. Maybe Marty can send his opinion?

A.I have a number of no reserve auctions closing this evening. They include some good Victorian pieces two 14K rose gold bangles one jeweled, the other in a neat Greek key design, a showy Revival 14K lapis, pearl & diamond drop brooch, a long beaded jet necklace w/Vulcanite locket, a pretty Nouveau 10K jeweled starburst watchpin and an Art Moderne 930 silver amethyst brooch. Also have re-listed the Robinson & Ledbetter parian bust commemorating Queen Victorias Jubilee with a lower reserve and some great Victorian 14K enamel drop earrings. I'd just like to add that sometimes Elvis gave away diamond (and/or other jewels) encrusted TCB's as well, although most of the times the owner did this on his/hers own initiative and costs afterwards. I don't think S&A ever made jewels encrusted TCBs, as far as I know this was only done by Hays. I believe that many, perhaps most that did, had this done after Elvis' death, as far as I know, e.g Charlie Hodge. Among those that did receive diamond encrusted TCBs was, again - as far as I know, e.g Earl Pritchett.
