PC Mag graphic accel review 12/5 issue
Q.he general sentiment here seems to be that Diamond is not always the fastest 968, and even when competitive in performance and price, is to be avoided due to buggy and late drivers. But in this review, they say "Diamond's drivers also proved particularly stable", and "all three boards well performed well on our driver torture tests". How did they get praiseworthy drivers even for Windows 95, in time for the review (presumably the tests were close to two months ago)?
A.I am still not convinced that Diamond is all that bad, but i was lucky to get enough funds to consider the Millenium and settle for it. My reasoning was that during all my research, i hadn't heard one serious bad thing about Matrox, and i prefered to spend more for a no hassle card that is sure to satisfy me, rather than get which might be disappointing. But then again, i was not spending my money. Maybe, the best thing, if you have a credit card, is to order the 2 cards, one after the other, and return them after a month. Most serious mail order companies have a 30 days money back guarantee. Try the Diamond and spend an evening benchmarking it, or playing with your computer to get a feell for it, and then decide. This is probably the best way to make the right choice, although it is not a strightforward procedure, and yu'll loose some money on it (shipping the package back if you do not like it, and possibly, some re-stocking fee).
