Diamond Initial Necklace.
Q.Are bags, shirts etc with an initial on them still in, or passe? It seems to me that most of the initial items I've seen in the last few weeks are on clearance racks so the trend seems to be going out. I haven't been into them at all. They remind me too much of Penny Marshall and I can do without that. No offense to anyone who likes items with initials on them. I'd probably like them just fine if that Laverne thing didn't enter my head every time I see them.
A.They do seem to be on their way out around here, but I will continue to wear the only two initial items I own. One is a very casual black/grey baseball shirt with a huge scrolly K on the left chest. I actually like this *because* of the Laverne factor, but I'm weird that way. I think the casual-ness of the shirt makes the initial thing work beyond the trend and I'll keep wearing it with old jeans and my black Chucks. The other item is a gold initial necklace I've had since I was a teenager. It also features a very scrolly K, but the initial charm is only about the size of my thumbnail and it has a teensy diamond chip in it. It's very delicate and discrete and qualifies as genuine vintage, and I'll keep wearing it however long .
