Your thoughts on those who wear Crosses??
Q.I met a woman this weekend who was wearing a lovely diamond cross necklace. I myself wear a gold cross necklace---I've had it for years and never take it off. To me, it is a reminder not only to others but also to myself about who I really am and my basis in life. Anyway....I remarked about her cross and inquired about the motivation behind it. She said she wore it for it's "aesthetic" qualities......and that the shape was visually appealing to the eye. I was completely bummed thinking I had met the woman of my dreams. Then I got to wonder...How many really wear a cross just because???
A.Christ isn't on the cross. The cross is what criminals were crucified on. Christ died because he was considered an enemy of the state for his radical teachings and opposition to the pagan practices. Why have we allowed the Christ to become synonymous with a specific method of death? At what point did crosses become juxtaposed with the Christian faith? I don't see anyone wearing golden or diamond studded electric chairs. And, why would you judge a book by its cover -- What symbols one does or does not wear is not a fair litmus to indicate their spirituality or godliness.
