Designer Diamond Pendant .Q.I was just reading this article in an old Cosmo that talked about how accsessories can make an impression on a job interview. Can that be true? Silver VS Gold, big Vs small. DO people look at you that minutely? And if they do, what do certain accessories say? Like this. I've got an interview coming up. It's the first one I've ever had in my chosen field (publishing) and it's coming through the web recruiters, JobDirect. Now, what does it say to my possible employer if I wear little gold and diamond studs as opposed to no earrings at all? What does it say if I wear a gold watch or a silver one? What does it say if I wear a choker with opals or a doubled up gold chain with a time piece pendant? These things all seem like pieces that just show personal style. I can't imagine one being preferred over another. But if you listen to Cosmo, they could gain or lose me the job. I wouldn't even go through this little exercise, except I have to admit that I want this job so badly I can taste it. And if you guys tell me opals will lose it and time piece will win it, I'll gladly take your advice. A.Well, accessories DO make a difference. For example, think of it this way...Say you had two choices, a person wearing a big fat 80s rapper style gold chain (which is obviously fake), and a person wearing a small little pendant with say, some small amythests on a delicate gold chain, which would you want to hire? It's extreme, but, it does translate to more minute difference. What's the time peice? I'd go with the opals, personally. If you have the choice of silver or gold, I'd personally go with silver, it's a bit more conservative. Plus, if your gold is less than 18k (or fake gold), it won't look good, it looks sloppy. And don't pile on the jewelry, at the most go with two peices of jewelry (a pair of earrings count as one)...For example, earrings and a watch, or a necklace and a watch, but don't go with earrings, necklace, awtch, and then a bracelet on the other hand. And, it is about personal style, but people assume things because of your style. For example, who would YOU want working for you -- some g-kid who has the top of his pants below his butt wearing boxer shorts printed with handguns, with greasy hair that hasn't been washed in days who constantly flashes gang signs, or would you want some girl wearing a smart outfit that says "I make an effort?" Another extreme example, but people can and do assume things about your style of dress.
