Diamond Jewelers in Bay Area?
Q.Anyone know of any reputable diamond jewelers (for engagement rings) in the area?
A.Anyway, I had a really bad experience at the Shane Co. last Christmas where the sales person kept on bringing out diamond earrings that had big, obvious inclusions in them. Anyone could see these. The salesperson showed me the first earring, it was marked SI1, which means you shouldn't see any inclusions with the naked eye, and an experienced expert would be able to see some inclusions with a 10x scope. Well, this had a big fleck in it that was obvious from a couple feet away. She apologized and went to the back room to get another earring- this too had a huge inclusion! She apologized and went to get another, which also had a big fleck! I think she was just bringing the same earring? Anyway, this third time, she actually said, "I don't see anything." So I handed it to the guy next to me and asked him if he could see it. He could, and she still said she couldn't! So, I left and bought my gift elsewhere....
