Bezel Set Diamond Bracelet

Q.I was looking for a NEW Rolex Datejust SS and I'm getting all sorts of price quotes in my town from authorized dealers. I saw one for $5000 and another for $2900, is there something wrong here? I couldn't tell the difference, they look the same. That's a pretty large difference. All you pricing experts: Please help. I know Rolex does not set retail prices & that they let the retailer set the prices

A.It depends on the watch you're looking at. In the Datejust model, the price starts at $3000, which would be an oyster bracelet with a polished bezel. Jubilee bracelet and/or engine-turned bezel would add about $50 each. Also, the fluted bezel watches are more expensive because their bezels are 18k white gold. And, a diamond dial would add approximately $1500 to the watch. Where did you hear that Rolex does not set prices and that they let the retailer set the prices? I work at a Rolex authorized jeweler and we are to abide strictly by their prices.
