Art & Artifact Catalog ?
Q.Has anyone ordered from "Art & Artifact"? I got their catalog in the mail and I'm very tempted by a red velvet cloak, and an empire waisted dress. They aren't cheap (the cloak $250 and the dress $100), but they appear to be good quality. Also, they seem to have a decent return policy. I just wanted any opinions before plunking down a lot of money! I didn't see a URL for this company, or I would post it. They are similar to Design Toscano.
A.I ordered a dress might be the one your talking about it was black with drapey sleaves and flocked scroll design on the top part and a gauzy bottom to match the sleaves. Its a wonderful dress and looks really nice on Im saving it for a special occasion. I would have ordered it from Mare/goodgoth but she didnt carry my size. She had it cheaper but with the coupon they sent me it ended up being just a little bit more. The service was pretty fast I think I got the dress in about a week. It was worth the money.. for me atleast. I just recently ordered a velvet dress from them that I was hoping to wear to the opera. The dress wasn't quite what I was expecting but my experience with the company itself was great. I called to place the order twice (the first time I called they told me they were out of the size I thought I needed and I waffled a bit before deciding to try the next size down), and both times the people I talked to were really pleasant and helpful. They also called back later in the day to tell me that my credit card billing address didn't match the shipping address, got that straightened out and shipped the dress the same day. That was particularly wonderful since I had just earlier that day had an annoying conversation with some folks who refused to mail me something because of the address mismatch and as a result just sat on the order for a month without telling me anything. So by taking the time to call me back the nice folks at Art & Artifact won major points. =) The only thing I would note is that I've seen some of the items that they carry elsewhere cheaper (namely a couple of the Eternal Love dresses). I received a purple velvet coat/dress from them as a Christmas present. I believe it sold for about $125 and I was very upset with the quality of the velvet. I am a seamstress so I am very picky about the fabrics used in my clothes. Basically the item looks stunning, but don't touch it. After seeing what they referred to as a beautiful velvet garment, I would never order another velvet item from them (I'll just do my best to copy them in fabrics I like better!) I have purchased several things from them. My fiance purchased my engagement ring from there as well( it was called the empress ring.so lovely.) There are a couple of dresses i ordered for when I go my honeymoon...the"Passionate Rose Dress and the"Lady in Waiting" Both come in plus sizes!!!!!! Ther catalog ha something for everyone, Celtic, Oriental, Art Deco.etc. They do not have a web site unfortunately. But you can call (800)950-9540 to get a catalog. Great Stuff......
